Kristen Murtos

Kristen Murtos has served NorthShore University HealthSystem since 1998, overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of an integrated health system with a vision to be the most trusted and indispensable health partner throughout the communities it serves. NorthShore is a leading integrated delivery system known for innovations in access, electronic medical record implementation and using data analytics to drive care improvement.  NorthShore is pioneering efforts to use genomics in its primary care practices as a foundation for proactive, individualized care.  Murtos is focused on growth, innovation, and redefining the patient experience through data and technology. She is steadfast in her commitment to continually enhance patient care by bringing new insights and advancements to the front line of care and deepening consumer understanding to improve care and advance outcomes.

Murtos has served as Chief Administrative and Strategy Officer since 2018. She leads NorthShore’s strategy and business development and oversees numerous corporate and business functions including Revenue Cycle, Supply Chain, Managed Care Contracting, Foundation, Legal, Audit, Compliance and Marketing & Corporate Communications.

Prior to her current role, Murtos served as President of NorthShore Skokie Hospital from 2009 to 2018, where she was responsible for operations management, strategy, and program development. She has also worked extensively in network development, physician alignment, clinical service line management, mergers and acquisitions, and strategy and business development.

Prior to joining NorthShore, Murtos worked with Deloitte Consulting where she assisted healthcare providers, payors and manufacturing clients with operational improvement and market strategy.  Murtos has a bachelor’s degree from University of Illinois and earned master’s degrees in business administration and public policy from the University of Chicago. She serves on the boards of the North Suburban Healthcare Foundation, The American Joint Replacement Registry, Village of Skokie Economic Development Commission and the Advisory Board for the Kindness Connection, which promotes volunteerism for school age children.
